HAPPINESS & FULFILMENT

I. HAPPINESS & FULFILMENT

As humans we are very complex when it comes to our happiness or state of fulfilment.
It is not always obvious why we may be unhappy, unfulfilled or depressed Everything
may be fine in our life, yet there is a level of dissatisfaction, the cause of which we
cannot identify. The fact is that we are whole beings, not just a body, not just a mind,
but body, soul and spirit. Therefore when there is imbalance in one or more areas of
our lives, we may feel this as a sense of unfulfilment. And the longer it remains, the
worse we may feel and may even become depressed.

For example, although you may
be happy in your career, you may feel that something is missing. We are social beings
and therefore we get fulfilment from helping people who are in need. But because your
career may not involve helping those in need, you may sense that something is
missing. Getting involved in your community, either through your faith/religion or in one
of the many community groups, such as Lions or SPCA, you may meet that need
within yourself to be a contributing member of society, a person who adds value to
those around them.

There could be imbalance in any area: you may feel that in your career you are not
fulfilling your potential.

Perhaps you are not enjoying the fruit of rich and fulfilling relationships with friends or
family. Or maybe there are some things that you want to do with your life and are not
getting to.
